Child & Teen Therapy in Arvada, CO
Therapy provides a supportive space for children and adolescents who are struggling emotionally, behaviorally, or socially. Many parents come to us when their child is experiencing anxiety, emotional outbursts, withdrawal, school stress, difficulty with friendships, or changes in mood or behavior that feel hard to understand or manage at home.
Therapy helps children and teens build emotional awareness, coping skills, and healthier ways of expressing themselves, while also supporting parents in understanding what their child may be trying to communicate through their behavior.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. Many children begin therapy because they are experiencing emotional or behavioral changes that feel difficult to manage, not necessarily because something is “severe.” This can include anxiety, anger, withdrawal, school stress, friendship challenges, or changes in mood or behavior. Therapy can be supportive at any stage where a child or teen is struggling to cope or express what they are feeling.
-
This is very common. Many children might feel unsure, hesitant, or resistant at first. We approach therapy in a way that optimizes trust, safety, and connection, allowing children and teens to engage at their own pace. Over time, many young clients begin to experience therapy as a supportive space where they feel understood rather than judged or pressured.
-
Parents and caregivers play an essential role in the therapeutic process. While children and teens may have individual sessions, we regularly collaborate with caregivers to better understand what is happening at home and how to support meaningful change within the family system.
We also provide parent coaching and caregiver support to help adults better understand emotional needs, respond to challenging behaviors, and strengthen connection at home. In some cases, we may also include family sessions to support communication and relational repair.
-
Therapy is tailored to the developmental stage and needs of each child or teen. For younger children, we often use play-based approaches such as Child-Centered Play and experiential activities that help them express emotions in developmentally appropriate ways. For teens, therapy may include conversation-based work, emotional exploration, and skill-building.
Across all ages, we often integrate systemic approaches with solution-focused strategies that help children and caregivers build practical tools for emotional regulation, communication, and coping with daily challenges.
-
Yes. Therapy can be helpful for children and teens experiencing emotional dysregulation, behavioral challenges, anxiety, anger, school refusal, or conflict at home. From a systemic perspective, we also explore how those behaviors may be connected to stress, relationships, transitions, or unmet emotional needs within the family system.
Together, we support emotional regulation, improve communication, and strengthen relationships at home and in other areas of the life so the child can feel more supported and understood.
