FAQ’s
-
LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy provides a space where your identity, relationships, and experiences are respected and supported without judgment. I work collaboratively with clients to explore identity, relationships, family dynamics, and other concerns while honoring each person's individual experience.
-
Yes. Identity development can bring up questions about who you are, what you value, and how you want to move through the world. I can help clients explore identity, self-understanding, limiting beliefs, and the experiences that have shaped how they see themselves.

Parent involvement depends on the adolescent's age, needs, goals, and the circumstances bringing them to therapy. I may work directly with the teen while also collaborating with parents or caregivers when appropriate, helping families better understand one another while respecting the adolescent's need for privacy and autonomy.

About Hakeem
Relational therapist specializing in identity exploration, relationship dynamics, and culturally responsive therapy for individuals, couples, and families navigating complex relationships and challenging environments.
I work with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and have a particular interest in supporting people as they navigate relationships, identity, family dynamics, and the ways larger social and cultural environments shape their experiences.
I am especially passionate about working with romantic relationships of all shapes and sizes, including LGBTQIA+ relationships, polyamorous relationships, and interracial couples. I also enjoy supporting adolescents and families as they navigate identity development, changing family dynamics, and the challenges of growing into one's authentic self.
My approach is systemic, relational, and collaborative. I work with clients to understand the patterns that develop within relationships, including attachment history, family-of-origin experiences, limiting beliefs, and the ways people have learned to navigate their environments. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, I consider the broader context surrounding each person's experiences and goals.
I have extensive experience in crisis intervention, mediation, conflict resolution, risk assessment, mental health first aid, and community building. These experiences have shaped my ability to sit with complex situations while creating a space where clients can feel supported, understood, and safe enough to be authentic.
I believe therapy should adapt to the person rather than asking the person to adapt to therapy. My goal is to help clients move beyond simply surviving difficult circumstances toward greater self-understanding, agency, connection, and the ability to thrive.
